Biog
Formed in '87 in Cleckhuddersfax under the name "Sweaty Kidz", Collie Jim Legweak (Guitar and Vocals), Mark Dunt (Bass and Vocals) and Greg Bakery (Drums) began to change the face of music in the world as we know it.
They soon changed their name to the now more familiar, Green Daze Lost.
After playing the local circuit for several months and having gained quite a following, they were signed to a small independent label to release their first album,
"Rough 93".
It was decided that they needed to switch drummers, as they were about to form the songs for their second album, "Buckeroo!", and so, in came Mal Adjusted to complete the line-up we all know and love!
With some minor chart success off the back of the single "Welcome to Heckmondwike" from this album, the band began to tour extensively in the area.
Their following and popularity grew exponentially, and ready to release their next CD, "Baby-Poo", with such classics as "I'll Pop Round Yours in a Bit", "Laundry Basket" and a re-recorded version of "...Heckmondwike",
they began a tour supporting local band, and cult icons, "The Dark Satanic Bastards from the Seventh Labyrinth of Hades".
Sales of the album sky-rocketed them on the fast-track to superstardom on the international stage! And the band capitalised with a major amount of touring and headed back to the studio to record the follow up, "Sleeping Sickness".
This album didn't fare as well as "Baby-Poo" though, and the band seemed to take a step back to re-group.
But, just two years later, Green Daze Lost returned with a monster-huge hit from their next album, "NumbNuts", in the shape of the song "Thank Fuck for That! (Time at the Bar)".
This song was used in so many TV programmes, and commercials, it began to shadow their previous biggest hit "Laundry Basket".
The band decided to take a slight change in direction for their next studio project, and record an Umpah album, inspired by the great work of the Austrian bands of the time.
"Watch it!" was the result. And although it was not a hugely critically acclaimed success, it was very well received by the public.
With songs such as the title track, and "Minors Tea Break" becoming big hits, the boys seemed to have found their stride once more.
A greatest hits compilation, "Songs Us Family Likes" and an album of the B-Sides from their singles, "Twatting About" were released to fill the gap while they were recording the next Opus, "Yorkshire Pillock".
This album did the business with the record buying public and it seemed that everyone in the world owned a copy of the new album. The hits flowed.
First was the title track, then came the double video concept for the two songs, "Short Weekend Mini-Break" and "Street of Busted Windscreens".
They even released the 25 hour concept track "Alan from Roberttown" as a single to the adoring public. But once again, it was the ballad, "Give Us a Shout Later in't Year", that brought them huge financial gain...er, chart success.
Tours for this album lasted for absolutely AGES, with venues getting bigger and bigger. Til the only place left to play, was somewhere just outside Leeds Inner Ring Road cos it had a big open field, and the farmer didn't mind making a few bob for having it trampled on by the faithful followers of Green Daze Lost.
This gig was filmed for release as a special live album/DVD and was called, "Nail Through a Library Card".
The band had reached the very pinnacle of triumphant successfullnesses, and disappeared til they could get their breath back.
The world waited, and wondered what they were pratting about at...
Then, a mere FIVE YEARS later, they rushed their newest LP out to a baying populace, "11th Hour Cock-Up"!
They were back, and still able to play their instruments to a more than rudimentary degree, with the first single "Do You Know How to Give an Enema?" they set off to tour the known Universe (mostly Yorkshire, but occassional forays into foreign territory, such as Lancashire).
And here we now sit, dear reader(s), listening to this wonderful, marvellous creation, "11th Hour Cock-Up", with it's songs, "West Farsley Somewhere", "Last Orders at the Bar",
"Flatcaps and Gaslight" and another ballad, "16 Pints".
Is it all just a dream? Or is it the sad deluded ramblings of some weirdo on the interweb? Who knows, but one things for sure, these guys are always ready to rock!
See ya at the gig!
