3 DAZE LOST

Yorkshires Premier Rock Covers Band

Goddzi's Shameless Self-Promotion

Eh up, everybody!
Just wanted to mention that the band have currently got some t-shirts for willing victims...erm, fans, to wear! If you'd like one, drop us a line on t'email and we'll send you the deets on how to get ya grubby mits on one!

Also, while I'm here, I've been off work for a week recently (last week), and to fill a bit of time I took myself off to my friends' recording studio and finally began working on my album of solo, original material! Up to press, there are guide tracks awaiting real drums, courtesy of Mr Dan Mullins of My Dying Bride, for 8 songs, with a further 4 (I hope) waiting for me to get the opportunity to finish writing, and get back to the studio ASAP!

The album has a 'theme' of sorts, in that each of the songs is in the style of either a specific artist or artists, or a specific genre of Rock of which I am a fan. Among the 8 tracks  currently 'on tape' there are tracks with a hint of Ramones, Offspring/Dead Kennedys, Ska, Fear Factory/Slipknot, and so on. In the pipeline I have concepts for songs in the general 'Classic Heavy Metal' vein, Manowar (ish) and a Thrash track, which I'm hoping to have another special guest on to play the guitar solo. More on those as they are done.

Ok, I just wanted to get it out that I'd made a start! You'll have to wait and see, but I hope it should be finished around about Christmas, if not before!

Punchbowl, Halifax

Unfortunately, Liz, the Landlady, has had to cancel our gig at the Punchbowl in Halifax as she has been relieved of her duties at the venue.
We are therefore available to play on Sunday 30th May if anyone out there needs a band!
Give us a shout via the email link on the Home page.

Cheers.

RotN to the Core 12-12-09

On Saturday 12th of December 2009, at The Drop Kick in Bradford, 3 Daze Lost will be joining Little Rock and Street Sleeper to play a charity fund raising event, "RotN to the Core".

Up first on stage will be Little Rock, featuring the amazing vocal talents of Storm Dalgleish. Storm has a fantastic voice and along with her band plays tunes from artists such as Alanis Morrisette and The Cranberries amongst others.

Then we're on second. (Ya should know what we're all about, no need for me to witter on, is there?)

Then Street Sleeper will be closing the evenings proceedings with their own brand of heavier than a very heavy thing heaviness! Playing a set featuring such classic songs as 'Symphony of Destruction' by Megadeth and 'Yankee Rose' by Dave Lee Roth, this event promises to be one you'd be a fool to miss!

Of course, it being for charity there will be a raffle with prizes such as t-shirts of the event and so on. Any donations, both financial and of the prize variety are more than welcome.

For more information about the gig, check out the Facebook page HERE.

More Green Daze Lost news...

After the success of our first outing as Green Daze Lost, we are doing our second one at the Bridge Tavern in Bradford this Saturday.

We will begin the evenings entertainment with a set of general covers as we normally do in 3 Daze Lost, then the whole of the second set will be purely Green Day songs!

Further to this new venture, we have our first booking as just Green Daze Lost at the Tramsheds in Shipley on Monday 24th August.

The Green Daze set currently has songs culled from all Green Days albums except one ('39 Smooth'. We haven't got round to learning any off here yet, but we will!) and contains 23 tracks! This will shortly be lengthened to include, not only tracks from 39 Smooth, but also the new, soon-to-be-released Green Day album, '21st Century Breakdown'!

Keep checking back for more as I can think to write it!

Green Daze Lost

Our first gig as Green Day tribute 'Green Daze Lost' will take place at The Coniston in Idle on Saturday 28th March.

We have been busy trying to finalise a set for this show, and have shortlisted over 20 songs! Some 'short' list, huh? LOL

We are hoping to have a support band with us on the evening, although this is as yet to be confirmed.

Colin and Goddzi will be using their new guitars for this gig, too. Colin has built a replica of Billie Joe Armstrongs' white Gibson Les Paul Junior, and Goddzi has bought a Squier Mike Dirnt P-Bass, both especially for this venture.

It promises to be a great night for lovers of Green Day, and we hope you will be able to make it to witness the start of this great new project for the band.

For all the people who come to see our usual mixed set as 3 Daze Lost, these gigs will continue to happen in parallel to the Green Daze Lost gigs.

Stand-in drummer for gig in Hoyland

Ok, so we got this gig at the Gardeners Arms (formerly GT's aka Rockaholics) in Hoyland on Saturday 27th September, but Malki couldn't do it due to a prior commitment.

So, I made a phone call to an old friend that Col and I used to play with several years ago in the band '10 Deep', Cell. He was up for it and we were all looking forward to the night...

At 10.15am on the morning of the gig, Col and I both had phone calls from Cell. He'd trapped a nerve in his arm on the Thursday, and though he'd played the gig with his new band, Creme Brulee, the night before, he was really suffering for it in the morning and had taken the decision that he would not be able to do the gig for 3 Daze Lost!

PANIC!!!!!!

After several phone calls, and by that I mean I spent over 3 hours constantly on the phone to various people, I managed to make arrangements for a stand-in for our stand-in!

I'd texted both Martin, from my original material band, 13 Years of Grief, and Scotty Maxfield, currently with the band 'The Symptom', who I have had in half a dozen previous bands with me over the years.

Scott was unavailable, but Martin was available and willing to give it a go! Good times!

Unfortunately, Martins drum kit was at the singer, Chris' house elsewhere in Leeds, and Chris himself was in Manchester! Bad times!

More phone calls, to Col, "Can we borrow a kit for the night from your shop?", "No, sorry."

"Cell, can we borrow your kit?"
"No, sorry, it's in a van with the other Creme Brulee gear."

"Scott, could we borrow your kit?"
"No, sorry. It's in a lock up in Sheffield and I don't have the key!"

Eventually, we tracked down Chris and asked what time he was due back to Leeds. He said around 7 - 7.30pm.
Ok, so if Martin's outside your house then, he can get his kit and hopefully still get to the venue in time to set up and play at 9.30pm. Yes, no problem, I'll do my best!

So, if you come/came to this gig at GT's, please be aware of the hassle it has been to get a drummer for the night if it's a total car wreck gig! LOL. Col and I even considered doing it as an acoustic/electric duo!

We obviously haven't rehearsed anything with Martin, and we hadn't rehearsed anything with Cell either. This could be interesting...

Martin - usually of 13 Years of Grief, but for one night only, our stand-in drummer in 3 Daze Lost

Toxic Shok Shok Fest Shock!

Some unfortunate news has come through which has had an impact on the planned proceedings on the night of May 10th, at "Shok Fest".

After much soul-searching, Tony has decided to leave his band, Loaded, because of his heavy business commitments.

Tone runs his own kitchen fitting/manufacturing business/shop, and due to losing his business partner recently over a dispute about deadlines, Tony has been running all aspects of his firm, pretty much, unaided. Which of course has meant long working hours and very little time to devote to other things.

Unforunately, one of those other things is rehearsal time with his band Loaded. Therefore he has decided that the best option for himself, and the band, was to quit!

Before I continue, Tony is still committed to making his appearance at Shok Fest as part of Toxic Shok, but this will more than likely be his last live appearance for some time.

So, on the night of Saturday 10th May, at the Polish Social Centre - AKA The Rock n Blues Club - on Blackburn Lane, Barnsley, there will now only be 3 bands performing, instead of the previously stated 4.

I hope Tony will be back on the gig scene as soon as he has his business back under control, as it would be a great shame to lose his huge talent for too long.

Sodding typical...

We get a short notice booking to play at the venue lined up for Shok Fest, which gives us a chance to judge what the crowd may like/dislike when we go back in May, and what happens?

Barnsley go and beat Chelsea at HOME so everyone just leaves the ground and stays in the nearest town centre pub all night, which is exactly where we AREN'T!

Oh well, looking on the bright side, we won't have that problem again.

Probably for years! LOL

See ya down the front in May...I HOPE!!

Date Confirmed

The date and venue for "Shok Fest!" have now been confirmed as Saturday May 10th at the Rock & Blues Centre, Barnsley.

The rockin' should start at around 7.30pm - 8pm and go on til sometime around midnight, or when the venue shuts off the power!

Hope as many of you as possible can be there for what promises to be a night to remember!

Don't forget to get your name down for the coach/bus if you're in the Huddersfield/Halifax/Bradford area and want to go but wouldn't otherwise be able to make it.

Cheers!

Goddzi

Festival

The 4 band mini festival I'm getting together next year now has a few - almost - definite details!

I've called it "Shok Fest!" after the name of the band who's 21st anniversary this whole thing was sparked off by, Toxic Shok.

It's looking likely to be taking place at the Rock & Blues Club in Barnsley on Saturday May 10th 2008.

For anyone who's interested, we're maybe running a coach trip to the gig on the night for people wishing to come from the Huddersfield/Halifax/Bradford crews. We just need to know how many are interested in going before booking a vehicle. Don't wanna book a 16 seat mini bus, then find we need a 52 seat coach, ya know what I mean?! LOL.

If you're interested in going to the gig, contact either myself here, or Tony from Loaded, here, and we'll collate the details and get the relevant stuff sorted.

Cheers, me dears!

New Page on the site

In case ya hadn't noticed there's a new page in town!

It's called "Media" and I want you all to play nice and be friends with it!

This is where any Live vidz - or links to - will be found, plus any MP3's we make of any of our performances.

So far there is only the one vid on there, it's New Rose by the Damned. Apologies for how dark it is, but there was not much light at the venue, so we just did what we could! If ya make it full screen it's a bit easier to make everyone out!

Toxic Shok 21st Anniversary Reunion Festival

Back in 1987 I, Goddzi, was in a band called "Toxic Shok". (For those of you with a knowledge of late '80's thrash metal, this was not the German metal band of similar name. They were Toxic ShoCk. We missed the 'C' out.) It struck me a few weeks ago that since I had got back in touch with all the other 4 members of this band over the last coupla years, that it'd be a nice idea to celebrate this fact by getting back together for one more performance.

I'd never really stopped doing the whole being-in-a-band thing, and when Tony (now of Loaded) wanted to start his band, he'd got in touch with me for bass duties. (We all know what happened there if you've been keeping tabs on their sites news page and band line-ups etc!) When they began looking for a drummer, I'd said they should get in touch with Adam, who was the drummer in Toxic Shok, as I knew Tony had kept in contact with him. And so, Loaded were born.

Adam was still in touch with Tim ("Bo") from TS and as they chatted fairly frequently, Bo realised that he'd been missing out on playing, having put his guitar away for many years to concentrate on riding his motorbike and gardening, as well as starting a family!

The lead singer of TS, Chris, had out of the blue got in contact with me again, after a long time - in fact I don't think I'd seen him much, if at all since he was the best man at my wedding! - via my mum, just after he'd turned the big 4-0.

So, all the pieces were in place for a reunion after I'd realised the length of time that'd passed since we'd all played together.

Though I'd played with a version of TS back in the mid '90's at Nottingham University with Bo, Chris and Adam. Tony was not available for that one. And obviously, I'd been in the original line-up of Loaded with Tony and Ad. But we'd not been all 5 of us together in the same band for what is soon to be 21 years! In fact other than the Notts Uni gig, Chris hasn't been on any stage singing for nearly 21 years!

We're hoping to find a venue that's gonna be large enough to accomodate 4 bands playing in one night. I say 4 bands, cos not only will Toxic Shok be playing, but also, 3 Daze Lost, Loaded and Run For Cover.

You know who's in 3 Daze Lost as you're on our website. Loaded currently has Tony, with Rich - the other founding member - and two brothers by the names of Colin and Graham on drums and bass. Run For Cover is the band that features Bo and Adam on guitar and drums, respectively and Trudi and Chris (not of TS) on vocals and bass respectively.

At the moment everything's in the planning stages. Including the set list that TS will play! As soon as we've figured out more, I'll keep everyone posted.

I'm beginning to feel like I've created a bit of a monster with this idea, and I can't wait to find out how hard it can BITE!

Dateline: June '07

OK, so Mick joined us for our gig at the Shay in Halifax at the start of June. It was his first with us as full-time guitarist. Unfortunately, it was also his last and therefore, only gig with us!

I'd had a call from Lisa at the Shay asking if we could step in at the last minute for her and Barrys' first anniversary as tennants of the pub on the Friday. This was Tuesday evening. So I did the usual round of calls to make sure everyone was available. Col said yes, Malki said yes, but Mick said..."Actually I've been trying to find a way to tell you this..."

After having played with Full Tilt for over a decade, almost every weekend, at least 2-3 times a week or more, he'd quit and started his own band. Then we asked if he wanted to join us and he'd agreed. But in the interim period between leaving Tilt and playing with us, Mick had discovered that he liked having time off from playing in pubs, and just going to see a band was just as enjoyable for him. Plus, he had his own thing going on with Rainbow Bridge and that kept him quite happy just doing the odd gig here and there.

So, Mick has left the 3 Daze Lost building - Ah-huh-huh! Than'yoo ver'much! (Quick Elvis impression there! Good eh?)

We wish him all the best for Rainbow Bridge, we really enjoyed having him there at the Shay with us, and hopefully if he comes along to any of our future gigs he'll get up and play a coupla tunes with us.

At least now, he isn't limited to just doing "All My Life" by Foo Fighters!

By the way, Mick. This News post is all the colours of the rainbow in honour of ya band, see?

News an' Stuff

Cat's out of the bag!

About 10 seconds after I'd posted the story, below, I checked out Rainbow Bridge's website, only to discover that Mick has got the news on his front page!!!!

Ah well, I may as well let you lot in on it, too then!

Mick "Emporor Ming" Williams, former guitarist with Full Tilt, will be doing his first gig with us as a permanent member on lead guitar, at the Shay in Halifax on 2nd June...hopefully!

There, I've told ya now...

----------------------------------------------------

We may have a new extra guitary type person with us very soon, as a permanent member!

Watch this space for further details, soon!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why the site isn't updated as regular is because the computer equipment is currently residing in a different house to where I am!

This is down to what happened over the Easter weekend to my family.

For the full story click here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just thought I'd update everyone on Cols progress. His Plastercast is off and he's well on the way to full recovery. PHEW!

He and Malki popped round here last night for a coupla beers and a chat about some new stuff for the set. I think some of you will be nicely surprised by one or two of the choices. But, you'll have to wait and see...

Col gets his freedom back on Monday 5th March, then we'll be resting for a coupla weeks while he gets his strength back in Belfast, lifting pints of Guinness for St Patricks Day with Malki!

Normal service will be resumed on Friday 23rd March at the Railway in Knottingley and the Allan Fold in Halifax on the 24th. So, show up to see Col in full swing with guitar in hand!

Again, a HUGE thanx to everyone for their support and especially to Mick for stepping up and standing in for Cols left hand on guitar duties. And also, to Rich for leaping to our aid on the 24th February at the Coniston in Idle, when Mick said he wasn't available. (see further down this page)

Let's hope nothing like this happens again, to any of us...EVER!!

For pictorial evidence of Col and his plastercast, see the Pictures page!

Cheers!

Ok, so first, I had to cancel our gig at the Lion in Castleford at relatively short notice on Friday night, due to illness. Again, my apologies to all.

Secondly, Rich from Loaded had been gracious enough to offer to help us out for the Saturday night gig at the Coniston due to Mick having a family engagement.

Then, I got a text from Mick in the early evening of Saturday saying his Bro in Law, who's do it was he was supposed to be attending, was ill and had had to cancel his party anyway!!

But, all's well that ends well, as they say, and Rich played a blinder for us! No rehearsals and only knowing half the set, but I think Malki and I made more mistakes than he did!!

Only one more gig to go with stand-ins before Col has his pot removed and normal service can resume!

Many thanx to both Mick and Rich for helping us out these past few weeks, it's been a blast!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As mentioned on the front page of the site, Mick "Mr. Pink" Ming is unavailable for the gig at the Coniston in Idle on February 24th due to a family engagement. But, never fear! 3 Daze Lost don't cancel gigs if at all possible!

As a twist to this ever stranger story, we've contacted Rich from Loaded to step into the substitute guitarist spot for the evening!

As an accomplished guitarist in his - and for a while, my old - band, Loaded, Rich has a few trax up his sleeve that we don't currently do, which he will be bringing along to the party! Watch out for maybe some Van Halen and perhaps a little Whitesnake! Should be a good night!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The gigs so far, with Mick have been well received, and most enjoyable.

Col says he feels a bit naked without his guitar on, but years ago in another band we were both in, 10 Deep, he was purely the frontman, so it's more like a return to familiar territory for him. I think he's having a blast not having to worry about pumping out the tunes and can just concentrate on his vocal performance.

We've dredged up a few songs we haven't done for a while, while we've been playing with Mick, and have also had a go at some things we'd maybe not ordinarily have done. For example, last night at the Bold Privateer, we did "Learn to Fly" by Foo Fighters. A song we'd played in Col's living room last year, but that we thought was not quite right for us. (Personally, I don't find the bass part to be particularly...exciting! I can play most of the song with one finger as it's all sustained notes, no strumming involved!) But last night we tried it, after zero rehearsal - as the rest of the set we've been playing with Mick has been totally unrehearsed, too. At least, it's unrehearsed with Mick, whether we've ever rehearsed them or not. And it went really well, we even all finished at the same time in the same place all playing the right notes! Ya never know, it might stay when Col's arm's better. Watch this space for further developements in the "Col's Wrist" story!

By the way, this is not a pic of Mick getting punched! He's just resting his chin on his own hand! Honest!

--------------------------------------------------

Col's fractured his left wrist playing five-a-side footy last night - 23rd Jan! Therefore the gig this Saturday at the George in Kirkburton is now going to be played by our good friends, Loaded!

As for the next few weeks of gigs, at least throughout February, while Col's in plaster, we are pleased to announce that Mick "Emporor Ming" Williams recently ex of Full Tilt will be stepping into the role of Guitarist in 3 Daze Lost! For the first time since we formed, for a number of gigs, we'll be a four piece! Most of the dates in Feb are in the Bradford area, although there is one in Cas-Vegas near the end of the month. Come check us out and see what can happen when Col isn't glued to the spot playing Guitar and singing! (he's found his radio mic so expect him to want you singing when he sticks it in front of your face!)

Ok, that'll do for now, see all-a yall later,

Goddzi
